Time: How much you going to devote
Research: Is the idea valid? (seeing others in the area you want to sell is a GREAT thing)

It seems overwhelming but let's work backwards. For simplicity, let's say you have an end goal of 100 clients paying YOU $50 per month passively. That's $500 per month. What would you do with this amount of money?
- Pay bills off
- Travel somewhere new
- Set money aside for future use
Take this amount and multiply by 12 for $6,000 yearly. What could this amount mean to you?
How will you find your clients? Look at your life and your activities to start. Are you a:
- Church goer
- Food connoisseur
Each group above has its own unique challenges and opportunities. They have a number of similarities that means you can simply "rinse and repeat." I'll cover VETERAN GROUPS.
I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corp who's served during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The culture within the veteran community is unique. Although we differ greatly in age, there's a common thread amongst all-serving the United States of America militarily. For those who've deployed overseas (infantry rifleman here), there's just one more thing.
The need that I saw: the Veteran's of Foreign Wars and other similar organizations are facing a numbers problem. I cover them here if you're interested in finding out more. The simplest one to address is technological since there are a number of local VFW Posts that do not have updated websites. I updated the VFW Post 8951 website (here's the old website). Along with that, I know mobile apps are useful and created that as well.
Marketing: There's two considerations-time or money. Many online entrepreneurs only use social media. How many are far ahead financially comparatively to the "average" person? Initially, I'd suggest picking up the phone and calling so you can speak directly to your perspective clients using nothing more than the Yellow Pages or a directory. It's much cheaper (assuming you have unlimited cellphone minutes) and you'll get a much better gauge of how effective your message is. As you get bigger, then go online. You need to have an effective phone "pitch." You need to say a lot in a few words while capturing attention, state the problem, speak about the solution, and encourage them to follow up.
Legal Stuff: I'm not a lawyer but what I personally do in my situation is have a generic name that I file at tax time. That said, it's totally up to you. Also note, you'll have to pay taxes on what you earn.
Budget: People often say "they don't have money" for this, that, or the other thing but have no problem going and spending money on coffee or other extraneous things. That said, it takes a little bit of sacrifice up front to have the payoff down the road. This may mean cutting back or finding alternatives. Some examples include:
- Entertainment-going out to eat, seeing movies, etc.
- Hobbies such as a gym membership (working out at home is much cheaper in the long run)
- Cutting cable
- Find an alternative cell phone carrier
That said, we want you to have success. Why? Your success is also going to be OUR success as well. That said, we get paid ONLY when you get paid. We take a very small commission when you acquire a client monthly. We cover the basics for you, in terms of creating mobile apps and when done, we code the mobile app for you so you can FOCUS on one thing-client ACQUISITION.
Determine Your Product/Service: Since you're here, I assume you're somewhat tech savvy. That said, in the world of providing a digital service, there's the ability to perform "up-sells" as well. The mobile app is the core of our model. However, we build websites and can help out with pretty much anything internet based. That also means we are not limited to the local area.
Research if the idea is valid: I'm going to give a short answer and simply say that if you're on your cell phone, there's a pretty decent chance someone else is as well. The world has over seven BILLION people and NO ONE has 100% market's customers. Again, I reiterate from above, you get ONLY 50 customers. It's a matter of finding them.
Time: Finding time is the most difficult aspect for some folks. However, there's ways to maximize the 168 hours in the week. Here's a free downloadable document to help you out. Take two weeks. One week, track down everything you've done at the end of the day. Then on Sunday afternoon, see where you can change things. If you have a screen monitoring app, see what apps take up your time. Limit those apps! Minutes equal hours over the course of a week. I have work to do as well.
Given everything that I've said, yes, I have to do things as well. Therefore, I'll be limiting these apps slowly and surely so I have more time to devote to my practice as well.
