Small Business Ideas

The New Year is almost two months in which brings a lot in terms of possibilities.  Many folks will be looking to start some sort of a business.  The question is why?  In short, there are most likely two overarching reasons, helping others and/or making more money.   I came across the following article and here’s something that you may wish to consider.  The article here, is titled, “50 Small Businesses To Start in Your Garage.”  This concept is not unusual as there have been some highly profitable companies that started in garages.

Looking over the list, there are a number of businesses, that directly or indirectly reference an online presence.  Each one of those businesses are going to be focused on one thing-getting up and running off the ground.

The primary focus in getting a business up and running is the actual product or service that is possibly offered. Focusing on getting the product to market typically means one thing, little time for anything else that would be considered an “extra.”  This is where you can assist.

Let’s take one of the business ideas that can lead to a passive income: Craft Classes.

The article speaks about setting up a teaching station in the garage.  However, the one limitation is this, the space of the garage.  Let’s take this idea and move it online.  A person could simply take the lessons that they have making particular crafts and record them.  These could be sold in an online course (via becoming an online course creator) or the individual could expand their “footprint” by conducting live sessions online so long as the other person has a mobile device as well.

The lynch pin behind this is a mobile app that can be utilized.  This can be used as a hub like a website can be however, everything is a tap away on a mobile device.

Have you figured out who you are building your mobile app for today?  We have a training available for you if you’ve not considered that teaches you how to find a viable client base.

Mobile App Development

I wanted to take a quick look at some of the benefits when hiring a mobile app company.  There are a multitude of companies both large and small. These organizations are still looking to have some sort mobile solution for their customer bases.

One problem is the cost associated with this.  Traditionally, companies would have an information technology division that would handle this.  However, with outsourcing, this is no longer feasible from the business standpoint.  This is where you can come in.

There are companies that are looking to hire domestically within the nation’s border rather than offshore to a foreign country.  Although there are advantages to hiring offshore, there are definite advantages to hiring within the country.  Hiring from within will maximize the possibility of getting in direct contact with the person who is building the app.

This is useful if a situation arises that needs immediate contact.  Trying to contact someone on another side of the world can lead to lag time problems.   Culturally, there is the possibility of having someone who is not the same as you as well.  Things that may be important such as time deadlines may possibly not be important to another the outsourced personnel.

The most significant thing is when these companies go for an outsourced solution is typically a one and done interaction.  When you establish a long term relationship, there is ongoing interactions with an established organization.

The benefit is that you can personalize service.  This is best accomplished though designing the app through This can help generate new prospects for you as well.  When you are just starting out, you can possibly even charge on an hourly basis if you elect to do so.  Here at Mobile App Maker Pro, we will always deliver personalized service.  When you either select us as your app builder of choice or you want us to create an app for you, we aren’t satisfied until you are.  Feel free to contact info@mobileappmakerpro.com to get started today.

Restaurant Apps

I came across an article regarding mobile technology and the restaurant industry.  The three major reasons why restaurants should consider mobile apps are:

Customer Feedback

Efficiency

Cost Cutting

I will expand on what this article says in relation to those three categories:

I’d like to surmise that not many restaurants offer feedback outside of the normal “how was your meal” since this is the traditional way of obtaining feedback.  The typical restaurant owner only needs to survey the establishment to see how much the mobile device is prevalent amongst the patrons.  From here, all they would need to do is simply ask, “how would you like a mobile device integrated into the dining experience?”  The answers will obviously vary, however, there are a wide range of things that can be done.

The mobile device will lead to a more efficient arrangement for all parties as well.  Have you ever been out in a restaurant before and the service was slow or the waiter/waitress “forgot” about you?  This entire situation would be mitigated if the ordering was done solely from within the app itself.  This reduced ordering time would lead to a smoother operation overall.  Time is saved by the waiter/waitress merely coming to you and your party (if applicable) and saying the following, “your order will be out in about 15 minutes.”  Gone is the time of having to take and repeating the order back, thus saving time.  If an option needs to be exercised, such as meat cooking “doneness,” this can be done and the food cooked according to the customer specification.  This will remove any possible customer saying “I didn’t order my food this way” as the process will allow them to take total meal ownership.

Another way customers benefit is efficiency.

Looking at the cost cutting aspect, this is one that can lead to a multitude of savings.  The most obvious one is eliminating dependence on a physical menu.  This will lead to greater visual stimulation by merely taking pictures of items that are served on the menu to further offer entice people to order something from the menu they may not otherwise be inclined to order.  Further information about the establishment is associated on the menu as well.  It’s not unusual for the restaurant to add social media information and the physical location is listed here as well.  This can be removed if integrated into the restaurant’s app.  This may encourage new customers to visit if they don’t know where the restaurant is.  They can navigate using the in app navigation feature with the app.

Aside from this, there is a possibility that the restaurant wouldn’t need as significant numbers for the wait staff.  The traditional wait staff is responsible for taking orders, delivering food, and checking on the patrons once the food is being eaten.  Saying that one doesn’t need 1/3 of the staff may be a bit much but the restaurant app but using the Mobile App Maker Pro app builder may lead to further savings for the restaurant  as well.  With that in mind, have you considered creating a mobile app for a restaurant today?

Designing Mobile Apps

I wanted to take a section and focus on the second stage of the Mobile App Maker Pro mobile app builder, Colors.  This would seem to be a pretty simple and straight forward section however, there are some considerations. The information regarding colors is useful if you are building a fresh mobile application and not one that is already associated with an established organization.

I went on a search on the internet for the “psychology of color.”  This is the site that I came across: https://www.helpscout.net/blog/psychology-of-color/

The image here shows where the preference for colors between men and women lie:

Although that’s the case, certain colors do imply certain meanings as well.  I personally chose Navy blue and orange since blue for the following qualities you can see here:

Blue: http://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.com/blue-in-business.html

Orange: http://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.com/orange-in-business.html

Looking specifically at coloring within an app, have you given further thought as to how colors can influence decisions?  If you want someone to “take action” within the app, the one color to NEVER use within the United States is red.  Think about it for a minute.  From elementary school (at least for me) to stop lights and stop signs, red means go no further.  That is the one thing you wish to avoid.

The next consideration is creating some sort of hierarchy within the app itself.  Let’s consider how you arrange words.  If you change the style whether by capitalizing, color scheme, bolding, etc., you can create a hierarchy in the app itself.  When it comes specifically to the font, you may wish to select what you feel is the most “trendy” choice since essentially the majority of apps (except games) are nothing but lists of information.

With that in mind, if you are looking to just start your very first website or looking to expand your branding regarding creating mobile apps, keep this in mind.

When you use the Mobile App Maker Pro app builder, you will have access to a hexacolor combination that is nearly infinite.  Depending upon the type of page you wish to add in, there are ways to change the appearance in a variety of ways.  This way, each page as applicable in the app builder will stand out in some unique way as well.

Fake Shopping Apps

Online shopping has been growing nearly exponentially in the past number of years.  As you well know, mobile devices are replacing computers for the shopping experience.  This has lead to the rapid rise and use of mobile devices being used for shopping.  However, being in the thick of the Christmas shopping season in the United States, customers are now falling prey to the scam of fake apps.  The normally stringent app review process has been compromised, leading to a proliferation of fake shopping apps.

This is a problem that has affected Apple and Google.  Here’s a screen shot showing fake apps provided by the NY Times:

This is a knock off of Footlocker.  What do you notice?  Here are some things.  Although it has an official name, it is not “Footlocker” but “Footlocke.”  What makes things harder is the fact that the app icons mimic official brands that exist.

You well know what can happen once an app is installed and gets permission to the most personal information.  You are at significant risk of having personal information compromised.  This can lead to a multitude of headaches.  The longest lasting impact could be financial.

The question become then, how to prevent yourself or your clients from becoming a victim.  I would suggest going to the official website to find a link that will lead you to the right store for a download link.  That is less likely to get hacked as there are a multitude of websites.  The Apple App Store and Google Play Store, although they are generally safe, is an easier point of access since they are sole providers of the apps themselves and easier to get into.  With that, be safe and we are looking forward to helping you out.  Using the Mobile App Maker Pro platform will give you direct access to link from our website (if you don't have one) to the respective App Store.  This will be the best way to safeguard your mobile device and those of your clients.
